The journey
26th – 30th of October 05, I will start on the long journey across the Pole Plateau. I will bring “only” a sledge weighing 170 kg / 375 lbs.
Starting area will be in Dronning Mauds Land / Queen Mauds Land. The first 300 km/ 190 miles will be spent skiing up through the icefalls at the coast, moving up to 3,300 m / 10,800 ft.
The area is the coldest on Earth, with possible temperatures to -90ºC /-130 F, but luckily I expect to be faced with only or minimum -60ºC / -75 F and some wind. After 60 days and 2,200 km / 1,310 miles my intermediary goal will be reached, the Geographical South Pole.
From there I will set a new course toward the coast of Victoria Land, as fare as 2,300 km / 1,440 miles away. Once up on the plateau, I will use wind sail whenever possible.
The final goal is Terra Nova Bay, but between the plateau and the bay I will have to carefully navigate 200 km down through Priestley Glacier. Expect to be at my final goal around 10th of February 2006.

THE IDEA
IT ALWAYS STARTS WITH AN IDEA.
A VISION OF SOME UTOPIAN THING,
THAT YOU END UP REACHING FOR
A DREAM IS BORN!
YOU BEGIN TRULY TO
THINK OF IT AS A REALITY.
THE DREAM BECOMES A PLAN.
IT IS PREPARED THOROUGHLY,
PROFESSIONALLY.
YOU GAIN EXPERIENCE.
THE MOST IMPORTANT STEPS ARE THE ACTIONS WHICH ARE IMPLEMENTED.
CARRYING IT OUT IS GREATNESS.
SUCCESS IS SWEET
PITY SO FEW DARE TAKE
THOSE LAST FEW STEPS.
