Torry Larsen (25), Ålesund. Has spent much of his spare time through his youth in the nature by the sea and in the mountains. Participated in the "Greenland Umanaq - Isertoq expedition" in the spring 1994. After graduating from upper high school he has been trained in the Royal Norwegian Navy, together with Rune.

They are both strong-willed go-ahead types determined to accomplishy that they set out to do. "Umanaq - Isertoq, across Greenland 1994" were their sole expedition before the G2 expedition, but it provided useful experience which facilitated a longer expedition. Furthermore, they had extensive field experience from a demanding job, in which they had finished their forth year together. In the course of these years they had got to know each other very well and felt certain that they complement each other fully. They felt confident that they had the competence to fulfil their Greenland dream, Greenland lengthways, and they did.

Extreme experience.

They have gained considerable experience during four years of service in the special units Marinejegerkommandoen, of the Royal Norwegian Navy. That means parajumping, diving, kayaking, skiing, mountaineering, lot of field experience in Arctic conditions etc. The G2 members also made a shorter tour in order to obtain adequate experience of nature, equipment and food provisions to the G2 expedition. For this purpose they made:

"The Umanaq - Isertoq expedition
across Greenland 1994"

The tour of approximately 870 kilometres was completed in the spring (March - April) of 1994, and took them 31 days. They started at Umanaq on the west coast of Greenland and crossed the inland ice to the small village of Isertoq on the east coast. The tour provided valuable experience and was, in short, very successful.
